In Memorium - Mary Morris, 1942 - 2009

A New Plymouth volunteer worthy of special recognition for her on-going services that enabled less mobile visitors to experience and enjoy Pukekura Park.

Mary Morris was synonymous with the Pukekura Park ‘Buggy Service’ for less mobile visitors to the Park. She routinely drove the Buggy on an extensive route taking in the sights and enthusing about the Park’s history and happenings. Almost without exception, and often at very short notice, she made herself available to greet, guide and assist less mobile visitors to Pukekura Park.

Mary organised the ‘Buggy Service’ and was the principal driver since 2000. As a result, she brought much pleasure to elderly and less mobile visitors to Pukekura Park.

The Friends of Pukekura Park successfully nominated Mary Catherine Morris for the Volunteer Recognition Awards 2007.
